My recommendation is the Novation LaunchKey Mini. Very similar to the Akai they recommended but I personally bought one 5 years ago when I started, so I prefer it for that reason.

Although this could be true with the Akai, I do know the LaunchKey comes with a 90 day trial of Ableton as well, which is the DAW I use to this day. Just my $.02

I saw them live 7-8 years ago in Dallas, awesome show! Went to the bar run by the same concert venue afterwards, they were in there hanging out! I got to take photo with them and everything, loved it!

If you go the bottle jack route it wouldn’t hurt to keep a jack stand as well, so if the bottle fails for some reason the jack stand is a backup.

Having a jack stand is essential anyways for any under-car work, like changing your oil.

I came here to say this. Guy exited on the wrong floor, although they did injure an NFL employee during the shooting.

I’ve never seen it and found it entertaining that someone so knowledgeable dress-down someone who messed up something they’re passionate about.

Was he a dick about it? Yes. But it doesn’t make me like him less, even without knowing he’s gotten better about it recently.
