Avoids law for four years. Finally gets fined a measly 200 million and one million every day from there on out till it’s solved. Basically just an additional cost to do business instead of a punishment. Amazing.

If it helps to put it into more perspective. Those conservatives or CDU somewhat recently visited republicans in the US and figured that it might be a good idea to copy how they do politics in the US to apply it in Germany. But making noise is unfortunately what works even if it’s not actually correct or an issue at all.
Basically… A lot! Just to have what effectively amounts to a painkiller. Now don’t get me wrong, those are great but you know what’s better? Solving the issue that causes you pain to begin with.
Yeah. Cooperation at a large scale is seen as a weakness to the far right and sock puppets of Russia. Making it actively worse for everyone that dares to have a different opinion from them is their goal. That is why they must ruin it for everybody even if it gets them In the end as well. But they don’t care untill it’s too late and shit can’t be undone anymore and everyone is dying. Only then will they realize what they have done but still won’t show remorse because they showed everyone else…
Oh she WILL cooperate with any party if it means that she can stay in power. Count on that much.
Poland voted pro EU last election. They are not an issue anymore. Now Slovakia is a new problem indeed.
And while it’s not possible to throw member states out now, the EU could reform it’s rules to allow for that.
Hungary blocks the EU in so many areas, I wonder when the EU finally decides that enough is enough and just blocks Hungary. And then finally change how the EU makes choices because that has been a mistake from the start. While you are at it, change it so that member states have to upholdt the standards required to get into the EU as long as they are in the EU or they loose their rights within the EU but still have all the obligations. If they then choose to not uphold the obligations… Toss em out.
Who would have thought…
Yeah no, that happening when the entire party she is part of can’t even say no to a nazi party was to expected.
If it looks like a nazi, thinks like a nazi, smells like a nazi, speaks like a nazi, supports a nazi party. It’s probably a nazi.
No way around it. Actions speak louder than words do but in that case or rather cases both point rather clearly to them being… Nazis.
Don’t want to be called a nazi? Fine… Don’t be a nazi and there is no reason to call you one.
If we only had a market lead in solar power in Germany. Oh we HAD that! we also just happened to have conservative politicians who decided to sell that technology to China. If only we had corporate structures in Germany building wind turbines that were competitive. Oh we HAD that…
Iirc I did that for roughly a year and then proton hit. It was a bit of a different experience for sure but even at that time it was not all that bad. coincidentally that time also taught me a lot on how to troubleshoot stuff so I suppose it had it’s benefits despite the added hassle that it was sometimes.
Basically… The theoretical risk of a mutation occuring that is unwanted. Here is the thing that graphic hides though. With gene editing it’s a company that decides what is desired and what is off target. And we all know that big corporate is primarily interested in making more money. Not the well being of the people.
The bigger mistake was not ensuring that the standards that must be met to even get into the EU also have to be maintained to keep your rights within. If that were the case Hungary may not have a say anymore and would not get EU money either until they fix that. After all it seems like the only thing or an cares for is his and his accomplices money.
Oh no! Anyways…
It’s a combination really, naive first time voters that have not experienced what they do or got blinded by their promises. Also mostly people who think that are wealthy enough to profit from voting for them but really are not. Then there are probably a few of the big business owners who actually profit from them.
Realistically, if you look at the FDP agenda, it’s a upper 1% of wealth party that manages to get people that will be worse off with them in the government to vote for them.
That cycle is real indeed. Though I am not quite sure if it’s stupid first time voters or just naive people thinking that they are meant when they mention the economy doing good with them. In either case, I have seen that cycle in action too and I also don’t get why a party for the top 1% gets more than 5% of votes.
Ah… Good old FDP doing FDP things where the holy economy is worth more than the lives of countless people and animals in pursuit of profits. Even seemingly going so far to potentially ruin the global ecosystem for everyone because earning lots of money wasn’t enough and they wanted to earn all the money.
Fortunately by the looks of it they won’t get voted back into a position of power again. Unfortunately however it looks like a different but equally bad (and worse) party will more than replace them.
As far as I can remember the ballot states people first and foremost, only stating party as a somewhat small addition below that person’s name. So it looks a lot like you are voting for individuals rather than the party. Media coverage also didn’t help and they mentioned how it is perceived differently in all other EU countries that got to vote as well.
It’s not illegal when you have to “consent” or basically be unable to use any chat service properly. At least that is what they seem to think. I am no legal expert in that matter but it’s still shitty that they are effectively trying to force you to consent to it.
