One would assume that she hasn’t changed her mind on the matter.

Revolution.
Almost like that’s already been going on as well.
I doubt it’ll work out how he, or half of his supporters, think it will. Instead of legions of brown immigrants working the fields and being happy they make any money at all despite the grueling labor, it’ll be a much smaller number of white people all complaining (and rightfully so) about how hard the job is and how they should all be treated and paid better than they are.
The work’ll get done slower, there’ll be supply problems, prices will go up for everything across the board. Least of which because all the companies mistreating their workers will now be exposed for doing so, but they won’t care and start overcharging anyway. It’s almost like it’s been happening the last few years or something.
Look, if our species was somehow struggling with birth rates and was on the verge of extinction, I might agree… but taking away someone’s bodily autonomy? No, that’s a step taken way too far over the line.
Can we just… leave him there?
And presumably if they’re willing to take these risks, it’s because the situation where they come from is even worse.
Just wanted to chime in that you are the only other person I’ve seen mention this. It’s like everyone just assumes people try and cross the border for the hell of it, but despite the barriers to doing so it ends up still being the best option for these people. Maybe we should look at fixing the root of the problem, as opposed to treating people like trash.
Always replace ‘The Economy’ with ‘Rich People’s Yacht Money’ and you’ve got your answer.
‘Texas Government’ and ‘The Right Thing To Do’ are oxymorons.
Right, but it’s the kind of terrible that the GOP supposedly likes, but because they refuse to even associate with democrats much less work with them, they have a knee jerk response to anything they put forward. Nothing will get done in this country so long as the Republican Party has control over anything.
They are when the disabled person is a fucking Nazi.
In the very least.
As a Texan, I’d rather sit in prison than ever be drafted into Governor Hot Wheels’ army.
But much like Texas railroads currently, it’ll get bogged down in lawsuits and never happen.
I just wanna be able to ride a train around the state. Is that so hard to ask?
Almost like they didn’t actually read the book. Nothing made me an atheist faster than taking the time to read the Bible.
Abbot’s entire time as Governor has been a failure of governance.
Good. Arizona already got shot down trying similar stuff by the Supreme Court, so it makes sense that Governor Hot Wheels and his Cavalcade of Corruption would get the same treatment.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
The entire industry employs a great number of people. It’s not so simple to just ban all fossil fuels (even if it is what we need to do) and leave millions out of work. Think of how many industries rely on fossil fuels as well, just to move things or people around. All those jobs go bye-bye overnight too.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t ban fossil fuels, but the fallout from doing so needs to be addressed before it becomes a problem in the first place.
