  • The Court now confronts a question it has never had to answer in the Nation’s history: Whether a former President enjoys immunity from federal criminal prosecution. The majority thinks he should, and so it invents an atextual, ahistorical, and unjustifiable immunity that puts the President above the law.

The majority makes three moves that, in effect, completely insulate Presidents from criminal liability. First, the majority creates absolute immunity for the President’s exercise of “core constitutional powers.” Ante, at 6. This holding is unnecessary on the facts of the indictment, and the majority’s attempt to apply it to the facts expands the concept of core powers beyond any recognizable bounds. In any event, it is quickly eclipsed by the second move, which is to create expansive immunity for all “official act[s].” Ante, at 14. Whether described as presumptive or absolute, under the majority’s rule, a President’s use of any official power for any purpose, even the most corrupt, is immune from prosecution. That is just as bad as it sounds, and it is baseless. Finally, the majority declares that evidence concerning acts for which the President is immune can play no role in any criminal prosecution against him. See ante, at 30–32. That holding, which will prevent the Government from using a President’s official acts to prove knowledge or intent in prosecuting private offenses, is nonsensical.

  • No they’re not obligated to release anything, and neither is she. In a situation like this its up to the observer to form their own opinions. People will take each parties past and future actions in account as well. It is very believable to me that LTT has a toxic culture based purely on the upload schedule and past conflict with other reviewers and product startups. I think most of the claims were descriptive enough to be believable although some may have been exaggerated and painted by the whistleblowers past experience such as the bait and switch onboarding. My opinion doesn’t really matter though, im just going to stop interacting with LTT based on how theyve reacted and conducted themselves over multiple public incidents.

Generally speaking, the employer has all the power and own the records which would prove the whistleblower right or wrong and it is much more difficult to retain that information as an employee. The power imbalance in the relationship and the role of the company as custodian of records here is what changes the expectation. Power imbalance is what has caused high profile people with money and fame to get away with bad behavior for thousands of years so society is working to address that now. Not going to be perfect at first but its a good start

  • Receipts. The actual data used to come to these conclusions. I have worked with attorneys in corporate law firms in some capacity for almost 20 years and while I am not a lawyer I can confidently say they don’t take these engagements to find the truth. They do it to prep for a case and to build a chain of events that show they are acting in good faith increasing their chances filing a motion to dismiss while identifying liability and building a defense. The one point they conceded regarding her claims that they lied in onboarding the attorneys are basically saying if that case gets filed there is a high chance a judge will find it has merit and move it forward. Idk of Canada court system is the same but in America thats corporate lawyer for youd probably pay a settlement or damages on this point.

  • So from my experience, I replaced my 8+ year old omen laptop with an MSI 3 years ago then installed garuda on the omen. Tested some games on each and the performance was similar until graphics were set to ultra just dye to the hardware difference. Before installing linux that laptop performance was struggling, so it really breathed life back into it and made it viable again. Hell my wife uses it to play stardew valley now and I used it to play ffxiv a few times.

  • See I’m struggling with this transitioning from smoking handrolled pipe tobacco filterless cigarettes to reusable box mod Vape.

One is cost, my past method I spent less than $700 a year on tobacco and paper. Now I spent $200 on a box mod and its been like $60 a month for liquid now, then lets say another $12 for coils. My costs have way more than doubled but I spent years finding a way to trim that down before.

Secondly the waste. I had no filter so the last few puffs of paper and tobacco were biodegradable. Now I have at least 3 plastic bottles a month and their lids all piling up in the recycle. Then the metal coils, housings, and cotton just get tossed every month. The tank I had leaked so I wasted a lot of juice and had to buy extra, I replaced the tank for $30, that one leaked too and I couldnt return it, so I bought a better one overpriced at $40. That coil burned while on vacation, so I begrudgingly bought a disposable one for the first time and I’m finding I can pop it open and creatively refill it, so Ill be doing that until I get home and can replace the coil. Vape shops don’t take your used coils or bottles back in my area. I doubt they even get properly recycled because I cant rinse em effectively.

I miss the simplicity of smoking right now but honestly the hassle and waste just makes me look forward to when I can quit for good and put all of it behind me.

  • I think you’re in deep denial regarding the Republican platform and its adoption of right wing extremism into the mainstream. If they are voting for a fascist, they are fascists.

You sound exactly like those on the right who shout about all the liberals trying to destroy the family unit and make all kids gay and trans.

Yeah, no. That is hateful rhetoric to enable republicans to pass legislation targeting minority groups with discriminatory legislation. It has no basis in reality. That versus saying Republicans are responsible for those attacks and deserve the social consequences for them is a ridiculous false equivalence.

  • The ballot step IS violence. It is funding apartheid in Palestine, border walls, domestic terrorism, police violence, Latin American coup, poverty and the list goes on.

We never stop pushing for change or we lose. Change doesn’t have a state sanctioned season. Change starts in the street before it shows on the ballot.

Violence is not the only actions, marching in protests, stopping unlawful evictions, feeding the houseless, arming people with knowledge, prisoner support, mutual aid and support for grassroots efforts all foster material change. Direct action is the only thing that will stop fascism. That includes cutting off family but also leaving the fucking table or kicking em out of the house when they come to eat. Boss is a Nazi? Quit your job and tell everyone why. Ask for support when you need it. Remember if there are three people sitting at a table with 7 Nazis there are 10 Nazis at the table. When they start rounding people up are you going to shrug and say at least I voted for the other guy??
