Amusingly, the phrase Crypto Fascist does and does not apply here.
And they are so damned short sighted.
Trump wants to be Putin.
He wants his half of the US economy. Including half of what they have now.
And they fund him while being obsessed with the pennies he will save them.
When you’re in that deep, a honeypot is just getting laid. Why overthink it?
Because the Evangelicals believe that Israel must be in existence at the end of the world of the Antichrist cannot rise and Jesus can’t come back.
They don’t give one fuck about the history of their own faith, let alone about the Jewish people. It’s just pieces on their dominionist gameboard.
No, this is big. Someone committed to the cause looked at the evidence and reconsidered her opinion.
This can be useful to get through to some that they have been manipulated, that they have been made terrified of education for unfounded reasons.
Anyone converted away is a win, even if not statisically significant.
$265 each per year. That’s wild.
My wife got a used car with a Sirius in it. She used it for the free trial but we don’t do talk radio so it seemed completely pointless.
Putin tactic. Give me a percentage so I can become boss and demand a larger percentage.
I’m only confused because I can’t understand the conflict between the two statements. I certainly don’t disagree with your second paragraph.
If you think he was saying the protesters will not vote for Biden, I kind of understand your point but that is also part of why Biden may be making the changes he is, which means again that you are both right - assuming the protesters decide Biden is worth voting for.
I’m so confused.
Aren’t you two agreeing with each other, that protests work and protestors vote?
A protest vote is something else entirely.
Send him to Night Court!
Fox News was built to be a propaganda machine, and the current Republican Party is a result of that. (Largely agreed aside from that bit.)
Yeah, I’m old. And I read.
I avoid video sources in general too. Damnit.
Fuck, is that the problem, really?
I look for sources. If I can’t find a good one I look for multiple sources that are reporting the same story.
I’m not even THAT thorough or critical. We’re in deep trouble.
It’s really insulting being told that my opinion is the result of a smear campaign.
I witnessed the smear campaign. It was unfair. I still didn’t like her.
Then I’m repeatedly fucking lectured that an embattled former First Lady, two term Senator, one term Secretary of State was the MOST QUALIFIED EVER candidate. Being embattled and disliked isn’t as great an asset as you want to think, especially when you LOSE.
No, she fucking wasn’t. And the insistence that she was really hurt her chances because a mythology was being built up around her rather than presenting her as an honest, straightforward candidate.
As long as it isn’t tied to complacency, it’s fine.
My response was based on, I’d say 30-35 years of watching his career, starting in standup and moving on to commentary and punditry.
I do apologize for not watching this clip before commenting but my sense is that he presents an air of smug, distant dissatisfaction, pretending he knows better and mildly insulting while still allowing his guests to put forth their shitty and damaging views relatively unchallenged.
Hence the comparison to Rogan.
If 30+ years of observations about Maher’s career and attitudes - including actually watching his shows for a very long time - comes down to misinformation in your eyes… I dunno what else to say. I guess I didn’t spell this all out earlier. I neither read nor follow Salon in general.
It’s just my opinion in the end, which can’t be fucking disinformation.
Fair point, I haven’t watched it.
But Maher still platformed Kennedy.
Which is the whole point of having Bill Maher as a host, similar to Joe Rogan.
He will accept what you say at face value for his audience and be surprised after the fact that he was ‘duped’.
Inspired by Michelle Bachmann.
