  • I believe they meant another pandemic the likes of COVID. The world would most definitely care. The news have been quite loud about the monkey pox recently for instance.

COVID itself? Yeah people don’t care anymore. If you actively look for the information, you’ll find out about new strains and all, but the general public just… isn’t interested in that anymore? It’s certainly not talked about anymore.

Seeing how quickly people went to completely forget about COVID, as well as looking back at how people behaved during the pandemic, I’m convinced that a slightly more deadly virus would’ve wiped humanity.

Wearing a seatbelt in a moving vehicle does not magically prevent all deaths upon an accident. Do you recommend we should stop wearing seatbelts?

If there are measures in place that reduce the danger of something happening, it’s not wise to remove them just because they’re not 100% effective.

I don’t recommend hosting a Lemmy just for yourself. How federation currently works is it mirrors EVERYTHING. Your disk will be filled up with images you never even view and you put yourself at risk of having illegal imagery on your machine if you don’t actively keep up with which instances you must ban.

  • Nobody is about to redesign it again. I think having exactly TWO designs ever is completely fair and you cannot speak of any unnecessarily frequent changes here. The redesign that did happen was crucial for security (a lot of new anti-forgery features added, included ones that are meant to be easy to check for tourists or otherwise) and accessibility.
