You know i think i understand companies sometimes but then i keep being baffeld at how evil a company can be.
Apple for example had me surprised with the reaction to the DMA and i previously thought that they couldn‘t possibly suck harder wirh alö their anti-repair stuff.
I still have a bone to pick with Tim Cook himself for rendering my well working Mac Mini 2012 unusable for my app development job by simply not updating Xcode and introducing a breaking change that prevented me from adding support for new iOS versions to old Xcode.
Don‘t you just hate it when
When capitalism
I wonder why ad tech can‘t be „Let‘s show ads that correspond to what‘s being talked about on that website.“ Kinda like what Google suggested with Topics but without following me through the internet.
It’s fine. Transitioning to Couchbase was fine. Was a bit weird getting used to NoSQL… Oh you mean my hormone therapy!
Oh, would you look at the time! It’s the year of the fediverse!
The Satanic Temple be like: “It’s free real estate”
I had such an apologetic coming up to me. When i told them my name was “‘Julia’); DROP TABLE neighborhoods;” they were immediately irate!
The EU forced Microsoft to offer a browser picker dialog. I’ve been wondering where that went and according to Wikipedia that judgement that compelled Microsoft to make the browser picker has expired. And thus… Microsoft dropped it immediately.
Don‘t GPUs also include hardware for DRM stuff like that?
And here i thought they banned alchemy because they learned from a copper trader.
My Intel Wireless AC 7265 on my Sony VAIO begs to differ. Certainly not brand-spanking new but it’s AFAIK less than 10 years old. The speed would at some point drop under Void Linux.
Open Source doesn’t mean automatically that applications look ugly. It only means that they look ugly on non-Linux systems. Like VLC Player, Open Office, etc.
Linux systems are easy to install. The real challenge is to diagnose an issue. What caused the crash of GTA V? The new Mesa drivers? The new Gamescope update? Some update in the game that breaks in conjunction with KDE running in Wayland? But you launched the game in xwayland, how could Wayland still cause trouble? Or is it the latest FEX update you installed because you saw a Youtuber playing Elden Ring on their iPhone 14 Pro with HoloISO and you figured that the 15 Pro should handle the game perfectly?
This also applies to CPU and GPU.
Don’t worry, texteditor.com is also available as an app on Windows, macOS and Linux thanks to Electron.
It only needs 300 megabytes and you can style it with CSS.
Meanwhile at Tuxedo OS:
Manager: “So, we need a set of Wallpapers for that Linux we have.”
Worker: “Alright, so i suggest that we add some vistas from germany in there and some nature photography.”
Manager: “Classic and beautiful, but i feel like we need a little twist to that.”
Worker: “Alright, so was if we were to run an algorithm that turns random parts of the wallpaper into polygonal art?”
Manager: “How random exactly?”
Worker: “Totally! The only rule is that half of the wallpaper has to have that look but there’s no rhyme or reason to which parts will be turned into polygons.”
Manager: “I love it. Can we also super impose our logo on the wallpaper so that people can always rest assured that the Linux they booted is still the Linux they installed and that it’s our Linux?”
Worker: “Absolutely sir!”
