So you were trolling all along. Well played

I didn’t presume you were hostile, just erratic. I seriously considered you were under some influence. I see now you just worded your reply poorly.
When someone says “I couldn’t care less”, and the immediate reply is proof or suggestion that they cared to some degree, this is usually taken as a challenge or denial to the fact that they couldn’t care less. Especially when it’s something easy to Not Do, such as commenting. This is because the phrase “I couldn’t care less” is more often than not used as an idiom, not in a literal sense. And in this particular occasion, you just so happened to point at how they could, in fact, care less: by not even commenting.
I’ll illustrate with a different example: A:“I couldn’t care less what my ex does with their life” B: “Yet you cared enough to check their social media yesterday” …so as you can see, B’s reply directly suggests A actually does care to some degree.
Therefore, without any context to show appreciation for the reply or without any visual or voice cues (this is text after all) to show the tone of your reply, it’s easy to presume you are trolling or not making any sense. The fact that you are coming up with this reply to someone who simply answered your question just adds another layer of confusion. Imagine asking someone to jump only to immediately say they shouldn’t be jumping. Just confusing.
And that’s also what the first commenter probably thought too, only they gracefully replied “non sequitur” as opposed to “dude what?” or “wtf?” which carry a similar sentiment and are just as applicable in this situation.
How high are you? You literally asked for people’s opinions
Amazing, a banana scale!
My ideal type would be 8.5 . But I’m happy with 7 - 10.
This actually looks fun. Not sure I’d like to have capsicum with apple, and I definitely wouldn’t eat the citrus rind. But it’s otherwise a killer idea to entice your kids into eating fruit

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•To those who draw and create art: Do you enjoy the process naturally, or did you have to develop the habit? If it was the latter, how did you do it?
10·3 days agoI enjoy the process naturally, but it’s not joy as in watching a movie or eating some dessert or sex.
It’s enjoyment comparable to playing a game, but not quite either. It’s challenging, you need to sharpen your skills, you can fuck up at any moment, you can fuck up and not even notice. You will, in fact. And that’s just the hands on part, I’m not talking about the ideas or even the sharing and communicating. Which is also tied to it.
For me the most challenging part is overcoming inertia to get started. Finding that motivation when you are depressed is very hard. Once I do the rest unfolds on its own. Problem with motivation is that it’s different for everyone and very elusive. For me, I need to either get paid, or have a practical reason to do the art (ie. Someone needs it for a specific reason or cause), or have an audience that engages with what I do. Feedback, back and forth. Healthy competition. Those things used to exist for me online a decade ago, but has been eroding ever since AI boomed, also platforms have been getting worse and worse, designed to curate a feed for you with little to no focus on the comments or community behind the work. Basically I thrive and find motivation in places where I can engage with my audience more personally and become others’ audience in that way, where discovery is up to me and not an algorithm that automatically ranks things for you, where I can see people’s reactions to my work as opposed to a number of views or likes.
I’ve been trying to find an online group of people to keep motivation up, something with tasks you are held accountable to similar to a class but with no accreditations or curriculum. So far I haven’t been lucky. Things seem to be either courses or prompts given out at large on popular media platforms. Neither works for me. One lacks the peers or is too expensive, the other lacks the interpersonal aspect.
Anyway, end of rant, but imo your motivation for visual art shouldn’t be too different from your motivation for writing, whatever that is. I don’t write fiction because I know for a fact I have no interest (not consistently at least) in exploring a myriad narrative plots or characters backstories , or to polish my prose, or to figure out how to best keep interest while narrating something. These do occur to me from time to time but I’m not driven to exploit that vein. It’s different with designs though, where I do. I look at different materials and I’m compelled to experiment with them at least once. The list goes on.
If shame or shyness is the only thing stopping you, remember, you don’t need to publish anything you don’t want to. Start, see how you feel, remember you can always revise work later on.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Judging by your own behavior what is your nature?
12·3 days agoAre you asking people to… What, exactly? …
I guess I’m dumb and inquiring then

If anything I compare my car’s condition to theirs.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it impolite to ask someone about their roots?
31·4 days agoDepends. Many times, yes it is rude. To figure it out I take into account relevance and understandable curiosity. Is it relevant to the situation? What’s their demeanor towards me? But it’s hard to tell, really. Some people wear a mask better than others. And it can get annoying when you hear it several times a day.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a 'social rule' that we all follow but nobody ever actually agreed to?
71·4 days agoNot sure I agree with your appreciation of the elevator. I don’t know where you are (I’ve never heard “ope” either) but at least in Australia not everyone faces the door in an elevator. I’ll copy my own comment left below to someone else:
…you are in an elevator for a very short time, unlike with public transport for example. You might as well be facing the direction you need to go to, so that when the doors open, you go, instead of having to turn and then go.
Second… I regularly take crowded elevators and while it’s true that almost nobody stands facing back to the door, it’s also true that easily half the people choose to stand sideways, facing the side walls. (Which btw makes someone with a pram or wheelchair easier to get into the elevator). It’s a mix of being ready to go and being able to rest your back against the walls of the elevator more than an unspoken social convention.

6·4 days agoDisagree. First of all, you are in an elevator for a very short time, unlike with public transport for example. You might as well be facing the direction you need to go to, so that when the doors open, you go, instead of having to turn and then go.

Edit: hey well, at least in Australia. Maybe wherever you live everyone faces the door in an elevator.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Back in the day you could find a forum post explaining exactly how anything worked, grey hat or not? Since then the internet has sanitized that out of existence. Should Lemmy revive that culture?
22·5 days agoBe the change you wish to see. Personally I’m not holding back information, sadly there is only so much I know about.
It varies a lot by brand. Also make sure to shake it well. But yeah it’s alright. I prefer regular milk though

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People who live in hot and humid regions, what do you generally do or have seen done to reduce the effects of the heat?
23·7 days agoThings me or my parents would do those 40⁰C+ days:
Pull down the blinds to block the sun during the day. If the air is considerably hotter outside, don’t open the windows/doors. Wait until there is no difference in temp to do so.
If access to water isn’t an issue, once the sun goes down you can hose the exterior of the house, walls and any surrounding concrete/stone surfaces. It will cool it down considerably.
If it is really hot I would sometimes put a wet towel on wherever I was feeling the heat the most (usually heads and shoulders/arms). You will need to soak it every hour or so, because it will start to dry and warm up as you wear it. You can sleep like this, too, but you may wake up from the heat under a hot towel that’s nearly dry.

I don’t know, I’m not even sure what the meaning of woke is anymore. If it is “tryhard social justice warrior” then, no, it is not too woke to think the new movie will be trash.
