It does have an option to only scan after pressing the button. But it gets a bit weird if you just pressed the button to lock the screen as there seems to be a mini race condition somewhere in there.

I generally switch between Sony Xperia and the Samsung A series, I’m currently with Sony. This is an unpopular opinion but the side fingerprint scanner really bothers me. It’s too good compared to the under display scanner and the phone keeps getting unlocked on accident when trying to look at the time or even turning off the screen. Plus I had to register 4 different fingers to cover all hand positions. It’s a good phone otherwise.

I was actually considering getting an ulefone armor at some point but the bad software stopped me. As most of your issues are with software you should probably keep away from the really cheap brands.

A British tourist riding on the worst metro line left her (expensive) phone on the seat and went behind the seat to look at the metro map. Even stayed there while the doors were open and at least me and three more people could have easily snatched it and left. Honestly none. My favorite android browser would be kiwi but it’s not exactly actively maintained which feels very insecure. I’m currently using firefox but it’s nothing like its desktop equivalent.

I’ve been eating a lot of instant ramen lately and finally decided to get a pair of chopsticks and learn how to use them. I was using a fork before. The difference is incredible.

So to let people know that they won’t have emergency service during an emergency, they prevent them from having ANY service now (24-hour notice). Even if telecom companies behaved perfectly (which they wouldn’t) the initial idea was already a problem.

I check the metadata my cameras record every now and then. It’s not particularly useful. For screenshots I’ll make sure to not have any names or usernames visible. You can assume every outdoors photo is geolocatable so you can choose what you want to reveal. I’m ok posting a photo from the city center but not from my neighborhood.

• Spotify: yes, you can download and set up your own music but spotify has a bunch of integrations that just work without any effort. I’m also using a student subscription (that will probably keep working forever) so it’s not very expensive.
• Mobile contract: mobile data is expensive compared to other countries but at least my current ISP has coverage everywhere. Too bad everything else about the company sucks.

In English even when I’m the only person working on the project as there’s always the prospect of someone else looking at it. Also my language doesn’t use the latin script and I don’t want to mix other scripts into code files. You can always write it in latin script but that’s really annoying to read. Funnily enough I wouldn’t be so against comments in another “big” language like Spanish or German.

Side comment, I don’t get how the US deals with porch pirates. Here someone needs to be at home and sign to receive the delivery because literally leave a brick outside and it will have been picked up by someone within the next couple of hours.

Sorry yes this assumes you live in a place where you can walk to something like a post office or a supermarket. Rural US may not have this but that’s already kind of a problem. You don’t have to go every day though. You can just get a notification when your delivery is actually there. This is already done in some places by companies but in a smaller scale where the available boxes are very limited and only for smaller items. With special cases I meant people who have trouble leaving the house for whatever reason.

This is very close to your mail example but can we please move on from delivering items directly to houses? Just give me a destribution center or box at a 10-15 min walking distance and I’ll gladly pick up everything from there when it’s actually convenient. We can still keep the other model for special cases.
