Sometimes I use it for few minutes when I have nothing better to do, E.g. on a bus, but given the amount of stupid shit I see on it recently it discourages me from using it.

Matriks404@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•There’s AI Inside Windows Paint and Notepad NowEnglish4·6 days agoYou can either uninstall new version of Notepad or return to the old one using some registry trick (look it up).
Or you can download some version of Microsoft Notepad on the internet (probably not really that safe) or even ReactOS Notepad if you really insist of having such simple program, but using I’d recommend to use something like Notepad++ instead.

- For Windows:
- For Linux (and other operating systems):

Matriks404@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•I ditched my laptop for a pocketable mini PC and a pair of AR glasses — here’s what happenedEnglish24·7 days agoLaptop is hardly a whole desk setup though. AR is potentially going to be much better than using clunky laptops.

We can even go further than that and say that you can only reincarnate to ‘conscious’ individuals, meaning that most people could technically be literal NPC’s.
Barely any. Just Poland (my country), Czechia, Slovakia and technically Austria (for few hours).
I definitely want to go to Baltics (Lithuania/Latvia/Estonia), Belarus, Ukraine, Hungary and Austria in the relatively near future, but I haven’t even explored my country that much, so it’s also on my bucket list.
The biggest problem is that I don’t really have anyone to travel with, so for most of my life I just didn’t do that, and only recently (couple of years ago) I have started to do it, but still very rarely.

Find some hobby, and get in touch with people who you can talk about it with them, or do some activities together.
Year ago I found out that going to various language meetings is perfect for me. Not only I practice my non-native languages (English and Russian), I also socialize more than ever.
Matriks404@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Almost as annoying as the windows evangelists2·25 days agoIn PowerShell most common cmdlets for basic operations have aliases by default. And funnily enough you can use both Windows (
cmd.exe
) and Unix shell names for these. (copy
vscp
,del
vsrm
, etc.)AFAIK The cmdlets that you use only by Verb-Noun convention are mostly used in scripts, or in some administration tasks.
I also think that some poeple miss the point of PowerShell, as it’s not supposed to be worked with like with Unix shells, since it’s more object-oriented than string-oriented.
Matriks404@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft tells Windows 10 users to just trade in their PC for a newer one, because how hard can it be?English23·1 month agoI am using Debian stable, since I no longer care about having latest stuff and the whole Debian-like ecosystem is what I am the most familiar with. As for Ubuntu I never had good experience with it, with random crashes all the time last time I used it (about 10-12 years ago), and when I tried it last year, I encountered random crashes in GNOME apps just after finishing setup.
Linux Mint (regular or LMDE) is what I’d probably install on other people computers though. Literally never had problems with it (used it about 10 years ago on a netbook).
Matriks404@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft tells Windows 10 users to just trade in their PC for a newer one, because how hard can it be?English41·1 month agoYeah, but will updates work? And even if they do, what’s stopping Microsoft in disabling them somehow?
Nowadays if you want to have usable Windows installation you need to use a bunch of 3rd party scripts that might break on next update. Learning Linux is easier than this shit.
I can’t wait for someone to ask me how to solve some shit in Windows, and me saying that I don’t have patience for this crap.
5 years ago it was alright as well, or even 10 for that matter.
