OS with a kernel built off leaked sources for Windows 2000 (not officially) and user mode from wine. It’s as stable as you’d expect.

Could just be audacious with winamp skins, although winamp probably runs fine on wine.

Technology@lemmy.world•California introduces age verification law for all operating systems, including Linux and SteamOS — user age verified during OS account setupEnglish
6·4 days agoFrom what I understood, it’s a requirement for a local API (for apps to use) and could be implemented during user creation.
It will be a slippery slope and IANAL, just my interpretation.
The LTS released every other year) is supported 5 years.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Fuck Github, Microsoft has made it impossible to create an account without linking to hardware or phones
8·6 days agoDid something happen with Codium or do you just mean in general due to controlling extension marketplace, access to their closed source ones etc.
Edit: missed your other comment, never mind

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Manjaro let their SSL certificate expire again
4·10 days agoManjaro has always sold the illusion of “vibes based” stability. It worked well and even some laptops shipped with it. It’s self evident why it’s not an actual improvement but people want whatever value they assign to using arch.
I doubt, there isn’t much of a need for additional ways to obfuscate commands.

1·14 days agoThat’s odd (but believable), I think every server I ever used required a sign up to be manually approved so if you use one with open registration they may have stricter moderation for new users.

Technology@lemmy.world•A remote code execution vulnerability has been found in Microslop NotepadEnglish
4·22 days agoI have a pretty good guess. They were using ShellExecute or a similar API with only "notepad” as a name or “edit” as a verb. The search order would end up finding your shortcut first.
This would be odd behavior (the path should be be the full path and start at system32) but I don’t have IE6 and Windows 95 to find the exact API lol.
