I spent a few too many seconds thinking that famous actor Matt Dillon is a linux enthusiast before I realized that Matt Dillon the software engineer was who is being mentioned here.

LemmySoloHer@lemmy.worldto unix_surrealism@lemmy.sdf.org•post your techno-mage conspiracy theoriesEnglish15·6 months agoIt’s very possible my sheer lack of knowledge of the unix surrealism world means this has already been clearly debunked or blatantly confirmed, but I have it in my head that:
- With some of the older techno-mage masters, such as the last fish, freedom is in their digital DNA. They spread freedom and unshackle others from their digital handcuffs as intended when they were created. The girl, however, is not necessarily created with this inherent will of freedom, but rather gains this will on her own after following the call from the elder to start her mission.

I definitely scrolled too fast coming across it and read the title as just “Jack Into the Beanstalk” which sounded like a very different premise at first.
Definitely post a final review after you read book 3. I’m interested if it comes together as an entertaining trilogy or falls further from what you enjoyed about the first book by the end.
LemmySoloHer@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You ever have a nightmare so good you wish you could rewatch it?English1·8 months agoDefinitely. There was this lucid dream where I was excited that I actually realized I was dreaming and could experience it conciously. There were certain things I couldn’t do and eventually people in the dream revealed I couldn’t control those things because I wasn’t actually dreaming, but was dead.
It was a good twist. Freaked me out and I couldn’t wake up so I figured it was true. Of course the double twist was that I wasn’t actually dead and was just in fact dreaming, but it was a good ride. It’s got kind of a lynchian vibe that I’d be down to just watch it as a movie.

A portable SSD. I need a new external hard drive anyway, so adding that November sales have reduced prices currently and that announced tariffs are designed to raise them very soon, there really is no better logical time for me to get one other than now.
