Technology@lemmy.world•France runs fusion reactor for record 22 minutesEnglish
5·9 months agoI mean yea that’s the plan. What are the other options? Force every countrie to stop producing instead to reduce carbon emissions that way? Wich one Sounds more realistic? And I feel like you assume that fusion reactors are dangerous because your comments about war torn countries. But it’s not possible to turn them into weapons. They run on hydrogen. And if they ever oberheat or something the magnets stop working and the reaction stops.
And then include Switzerland on their map.

Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•He's not really gonna get rid of the ACA right?English
6·1 year agoJust start laughing about loud and point at them with your arm fully extended. We should start shaming people in a more direct primal way again. Shame is probably the most powerful feeling (maybe second to “ahh oh my god I’m dying???” however you want to call that)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a sign that your childhood has ended?
1·1 year agoI look way older than I am. And I have a younger sister. So I am still cometely in on all the young people jokes, but teenagers address me with the formal “you” (German). And I feel betrayed by my own people every time. Best thing is when my sister is talking about an internet phenomenon and says “you wouldn’t understand” but I was literally there when it happened like five years ago.
So what I’m trying to say is I stopped feeling like a child when I wasn’t accepted as one anymore. Child and adult are (mostly! I’m not promoting pedophilia) societal norms.
If a battle can not be won do not fight it.
If you police it it’s not a cultural thing. If it was just a cultural thing than we could just let the * slowly die out. But banning language hinders progress. And I’m sorry, but the German language is constantly shifting and changing. There have even been multiple planned changes that went pretty well in recent history. Using English words might have been a big change back then, but now it’s really common. The first terms for mobile were things like “Taschentelefon” (pocket telephone), “drahtloses Telephone” (wireles telephone) or the one that is still in use “Mobiltelefon” (mobile phone). None of these seem outlandish to me.
I 100% agree that it’s not perfect. Still, banning an attempt at being inclusive is clearly not about how impractical it can be. And even if it were, policing language is stupid 9 times out of 10.

Europe@feddit.de•2024 European Parliament election in GermanyEnglish
9·1 year agoThere is CDU and CSU. Together they form the Union. CSU is only active in Bavaria, but they are even more conservative than the CDU. Both would cooperate with the far right tho so we can sink most of Germany
What are you even advertising to those people? Is there something that people with HIV are really into collectively? I mean despite medication, but that is free in the UK, right?
Meanwhile chromeOS had a stroke because I asked to set a wallpaper

Technology@lemmy.world•We Finally Know How Ancient Roman Concrete Was Able to Last Thousands of YearsEnglish
4410·2 years agoAnd also fucking 16 wheelers. Romans did not drive 80 ton (made up number. I don’t know how heavy big trucks are. But I’m Shure they are lighter than ancient wagons. To be honest I just hate cars and I want to use a scientific discussion to push my personal political view.) vehicles.

Europe@feddit.de•Germany, which committed genocide in Namibia, blasted for defending Israel by African nation - UPI.comEnglish
1·2 years agoThat’s all correct and I agree with you on these points. What I’m trying to say is that this change is (I think, not 100% sure because I wasn’t in the room of course) made to combat “imported antisemitism” wich is a different “issue” from the Israel situation entirely. There would not have to be a recognition to the right to exist for Palestine because they are not receiving the type of discrimination by imigrants the Jewish community does.

Europe@feddit.de•Germany, which committed genocide in Namibia, blasted for defending Israel by African nation - UPI.comEnglish
61·2 years agoPledging loyalty to Israel and recognizing that Israel has a right to exist sound like very different things to me. Don’t get me wrong this change is dangerous but not for the reasons you think. It shows how AFD managed to push right wing ideas into the mainstream.

Technology@lemmy.world•Gamers enraged at Ubisoft for injecting ads into the middle of video gamesEnglish
221·2 years agoYes, advertisements in game environments have always been the place to make stupid puns.

Nah, they won. And there will probably be a Union-SPD or Union-AfD coalition.
