Normally I’m not one to even entertain the thought of commenting on a political thread, but I feel it would be disingenuous to click the button without any feedback in this case. This decision leaves me with a large enough lack of confidence in the future moderation of this community(especially given we’re in an election year) such that I can’t in good faith leave it on my feed and I will be blocking this comm after this comment.

While I agree that Ozma deserved a ban for spam, the justification used for this is frankly appalling. Misrepresentation of bias as bad-faith, especially with the admission that largely good sources were used is unacceptable.

  • These things are usually telegraphed beforehand so they can gauge public reaction and adjust if necessary.

Rulings aren’t adjusted based on public sentiment; That’s not how the court functions. You can generally speculate with reasonable accuracy on each judges position even prior to arguments for a case and arguments give a clearer public affirmation as to their thoughts on the manner.

I don’t think it’s too early to be mad about the courts potentially legalizing presidential murder.

Presidents have been authorizing legalized murder since the country’s inception. All this ruling will do is create a legally distinct definition between state actions and personal actions. This article is just ragebait.

  • I read that from the article also, but it wasn’t really heavy on actual detail.

The settlement also includes Disney’s agreement to seek permission from a federal appeals court to pause its effort to revive a dismissed retaliation lawsuit against DeSantis in Florida federal court in light of expected negotiations of a “new development deal” between the company and the district.

The only thing I can imagine is that Disney negotiated something that was more worth their while than the oversight board behind closed doors in exchange for dropping the lawsuits.

  • The commenter is being a jerk, but you’re misinterpreting the point they’re trying to make. Twitch has a had a lot of issues with rules enforcement since the introduction of the ‘Just Chatting’ section when it comes to sexual content. What’s considered acceptable has only ever been nebulously defined in the TOS really.

Because of this a lot of disproportionate bans have happened on women simply for existing, largely affecting smaller streamers because large ones generally just get a slap on the wrist. On the other side of the spectrum the rules have also allowed for a lot of loopholes being taken advantage of, like for example the hottub craze. The other commenter is not exaggerating when they are saying that people stream themselves pole dancing and doing strip teases.

Whether you agree or disagree on the level of sexualization that should be allowed on the platform, what’s considered acceptable use definitely needs to be more rigidly defined for the benefit of everyone.
