  • It will be isolated in its own directory, as I said I think distrobox.it+neon+, own home will be a far better solution of course. I keep hearing Flatpak is adding snap-like deeper features so I wondered how far it went. About the KDE 6 being unstable: I think they wanted to ship something out and for people preferring stability, 5.x LTS will be there for a long time.

  • I mean as you can use far newer KDE applications on Debian stable via Flatpak, it may serve the same purpose contained in a separate tree without changing the core OS.

I guess distrobox+neon would work fine yes. I just wondered the state of Flatpak with the recent changes.

  • Really weird thing is, distros and flathub kinda pushes users to do system wide installs while most of the packages can work and get updated per user. They are pushing the thing which made Windows almost impossible to use without an administrator user. A dramatic example would be gnu guix, almost never requires root for updates or installs. It is also usable by normal users. From GNU… :-)

If you use a rolling/half rolling release like Tumbleweed/Fedora, Nouveau is pretty usable and it progresses. That is unless you are a gamer or do AI stuff. It is Nvidia who had to provide an open source driver to their customers. I don’t think Nvidia customers figure they are customers, not beggars as they don’t demand it. That even includes governments and the military.

  • I think I have read this suggestion at Reddit: "Make people who wants to use API as clients pay. " The app doesn’t have to have API key, user pays a very reasonable money to access Reddit with their favourite application. Obviously it would come with sane for human browsing limits and AI leechers should pay millions.

Just like a plain old radio station where you can access from web page for free but you need to subscribe for better AAC, high quality streams and standard VLC support.

  • You know the very credible sounding theory that Musk bought Twitter to drown it. He used Middle Eastern funds etc. and those people owning these gigantic funds had nightmares because Twitter made it so easy to organise mass unrest. I want to believe this crazy sounding theory since other option would be someone having such a capital, know how and influence is that dumb.

What if this is just a plot to kill Reddit? While crypto bros polluted it a lot, it was very similar with Twitter. Freedom of speech, diversity. It may have bugged people.

  • What they do on several Reddit subs is market manipulation. I really wonder what keeps FED/FTC away from seeing this fact. They are allowing a service serving to market manipulation by criminals to have a IPO. So let’s say your post to wall Street bets is clearly illegal but it serves to Reddit. Will they hurry removing it or even removing the sub? The crypto gangs there are even worse, don’t mess with them. These guys are very well connected in real life, you know guns etc.
