The sheer glut of load zones means even a spinning disk is unacceptable. I literally saved over an hour in time over a weekend back in the day going from ddr3 to 4, and three hours over a weekend going from a spinning disk to a solid state.

It’s basically the equivalent of a self hosted small LLM that you don’t have to fuck around with setting up.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with LLMs as a tool. The problem is the misuse, misapplication and over scaling of them.
If they were all just one off tools like lumo that are basically slightly more advanced digital assistants they would be fine. LLMs are fantastic for quickly searching shit with crap discoverability for example. They routinely are more effective at finding random useful results in say reddit or stack overflow or even some weird forum on the 12th page of Google.

Very rarely is superior tech remotely a factor in how good a product is or how well it’s received.

My fellow countrymen generally seem to struggle with the concept of narrow and focused laws.

Making it a twice failed concept from the start
A good product should be useable by even a fool and malleable enough to be used by anyone.
Weirdly dell always seems to understand what normal users want.
The problem is normal users have beyond low expectations, no standards and are ignorant of most everything tech related.
They want cheap and easy to use computers that require no service and if there is a problem a simple phone number to call for help.
Dell has optimized for that. So hate em or not, while their goods have gone to shit quality wise. They understand their market and have done extremely well in servicing it.
Thus I am not surprised at all dell understood this. If anything I would have been more surprised if they didn’t.
The camera thing will always be such a great example. My grandfather’s good friend can’t drive his fancy 100k+ EV. Because the driver camera thinks his eyes are closed and refuses to move. So his wife now drives him everywhere.

It’s more the hallucinations are due to the fact we have trained them to be unable to admit to failure or incompetence.
Humans have the exact same “hallucinations” if you give them a job then tell them they aren’t allowed to admit to not knowing something ever for any reason.
You end up only with people willing to lie, bullshit and sound incredibly confident.

None of the big models are trained to be actually accurate, only to give results no matter what.
The three things I’ve found search engine LLMs to be useful for. Searching for laptop since it’s absurdly good at finding weird fucking regional models or odd configurations that arnt on the main pages of most shops.
Like my current laptop wasnt on newegg Amazon or even msi’s own shop. It was on a fucking random ass page on their website that nothing linked to and was some weird ass model that wasn’t searchable even.
The second most useful one was generating a metric crapload of boiler plate json files for a mod.
The third thing is bad dnd roleplaying while I’m bored at work. The hallucinations are a upside lol
