  • Yeah, I’ve had the same issue with with a couple different brands similar to the Earpeace ones. They also felt like they were more plugging rather than filtering when fully inserted.

With Earasers, their shape helps them latch into place pretty well, even while eating or talking. If I go into a quieter area and want to hear better I can even pull them slightly out and they’ll stay in place.

I don’t remember how the versions are different from each other but I have the -26dB and -31dB ones in their music category. The -26dB ones work for most things and I can use the higher one when I expect it to be really loud. Their ‘starter kit’ in is a good idea if you are unsure of what size you need, you can get the ‘pro kit’ later if you want to try a third size and the other two NRR levels.

  • It’s more complex and expensive to have it controlled by software though.

Hardware controlled would be the equivalence of using a splitter to add a second lamp on an outlet attached to a light switch. (would only require a change in a trace or two and a transistor/resistor or two.)

Software controlled is the equivalence having to buy smart outlets and programming them yourself to have the two lamps turn on at the same time. (requires the same as a hardware switch, plus a more expensive or even an extra controller chip along with the need to write and program it.)

  • Now I do know and understand the risks along with what is involved with a hysterectomy, but her age along with her political stance brings some questions.

With her being ‘mostly pro-life’… Was she against contraception? Did she get pregnant on purpose? Did she know the level of risk to the mother and fetus with a pregnancy after 40? She said she was worried about losing her uterus… Was she wanting to get pregnant again? Did she know she’s just around the corner from menopause? Being around her age, the option for freezing one’s eggs can be a viable option, especially with the possibility of needing a hysterectomy. Would she be against a surrogate pregnancy?

  • I’m 99.999% sure it was, as it was within kubuntu using the default FF install (Canonical only provides the snapped version), and opened from either the taskbar icon or through its menu. Discover’s auto-update feature was also manually turned off. (was a system at work, so I wanted the config to be relatively basic but controllable)

I did at some point completely remove snap and switched to flatpak. Eventually though, I went with the Mozilla Team’s PPA, as the sandboxing was adding too many complications with the addons along with printing documents.

  • Not yet, at least.

The current tech doesn’t really factor in road conditions AFAIK. Which is a pretty big factor that dictates how brakes should be applied to stop safely.

One example is, if you’re driving along an area with a soft or no shoulder during rain or snow, stopping suddenly could easily make the car slide off the road and end up upside-down or down a cliff. There unfortunately are times where hitting someone/something is unavoidable, along with being the safest option and the decision making capability isn’t fully there yet.
