I get it. At the end of the day web is a vast space and people will have different experience functioning here, all we can do is try to convince others we’re genuine and do our thing. I’m just happy whenever a positive interactions like your and OP’s happen.
Here are some possible reasons for people getting mad if you’re really wondering why it happens:
I’m not saying you did any of those things and I’m right there with you on learning but the knee-jerk reactions often do have a reason behind them. There’s also the whole issue with how polarized social media is these days and the willingness to listen or admit to a mistake can be a difficult thing to stomach (“it’s a sign of weakness”).
I hope that helps!
Just appeal to another AI - two of them can’t be wrong at the same time, I’m sure of it!
They’re going to replace them with an AI powered tool, aren’t they? If they’re going to replace them at all that is.
People are willing to deal with a lot of thing before it gets to a breaking point - whether it’s a social media platform or anything else in life. Change is scary and many users keep their accounts to follow specific artists/series/topics who may or may not have easily findable alternatives to switch to.
Add the fact that majority of casual users doesn’t know about other similar platforms or (in case of fediverse) finds them confusing and suddenly they have more incentive to just put up with the problems as long as they can. More so since such change requires rebuilding of communities and relationships.
Finally, there’s laziness - most people just can’t be bothered to change things in their life unless they have no other choice/choice was made for them (ex. service they used died).
Why do you think so many refused to leave reddit after the whole boycott drama? It sucks but that’s how humans are. There’s only so much we can care about and social media aren’t exactly high on the totem pole.
He also wanted Mexico to pay for a wall, framed Putin and other dictators as geniuses and friends, and aimed to make America great again™ despite pushing it to isolationism and irrelevancy.
Let’s not take a single sensible thing he said as some kind of huge win, especially when this has been the stance of US presidents before him as well. The only difference is that now war is close enough to EU that western countries started to wake up about the need to defend themselves.
While I’m happy with this outcome, even if it’s only temporary, I disagree with calling it “Hungary’s push”. There are multiple countries supporting this initiative and phrases like this make it easy for them to wash their hands and push the whole responsibility on a country everyone is pissed at anyway.
We shouldn’t hide the fact there’s a growing interest in limiting human rights among EU countries but rather expose and scrutinize the bad actors instead. I don’t think that will stop any future attempts but it could hopefully slow them down.
Still, win is a win and every attempt that fails is a reason to celebrate.
