We have a black coffee table and sometimes it’s just on the coffee table and I’m like “Jesus fucking Christ what is wrong with you.”. In fairness to me, it’s summer, I keep the shades drawn, keeps the temps down.

Shit should be barebones by default. Features should always be opt in.
You mean MSN messenger doesn’t exist anymore?!?
The craziest part is that when I use Google search to search for a service, that’s when I have the most trouble. Like many tech problems here on Lemmy (was similar on Reddit too), I find the outrage to be a bit overblown, but holy shit, if I want to find some kind of service where I want to exchange my money for something, Google fails me almost every time.
It’s literally the thing that keeps me coming back (to the seas). I have paid for the services, and the service they provide has been steadily degraded. I still have Prime because they haven’t fucked up delivery to my home (yet), but I don’t even open the app on Roku anymore, I just download whatever it is, because I have no interest in dealing with their shit interface and then having to watch ads after.
If a service can give me a simple, easy to use interface, good search feature, good quality, and decent enough content, you’ve got my money. That’s just too much to ask these days, so I’ll just donate to the site(s) that provide alternative services.
It’s that woo-woooooo
Yes, why not? They aren’t prohibited, they’re just being given a disadvantage compared to American made vehicles being sold in America. A tax for notoriously poor labor standards, we can call it. If they want to use a union shop somewhere in middle America they can avoid that tax altogether.
If I misunderstood you please correct me.
This makes the most sense. Sell them here. Built elsewhere? Tax the shit out of them. You can avoid the tax by creating American jobs and having them manufactured here.
For us it comes for free from the prime account. I still refuse to watch anything on Prime video, but I believe I’m not pirating because I technically do have access to all these movies/shows. That’s logical right?
The Internet has been gentrified. Sure, there were some tough places that you had to be careful about wandering into, but there were great experiences. Now it’s this homogenous, cultivated experience.
I dunno, I had this conversation in another thread recently. I was 13 in 2000. The web was a disaster then. Sure, there were good parts, but every website was an outright attack on your computer. Java and Flash were everywhere and they were so easily exploited. I’d go to websites and they’d pop up 100 different windows of hardcore porn, audio on, the whole nine.
But yeah, it’s just a different suck now.
I am rewatching with my wife and just watched this episode last night, so imagine my surprise to see life imitating art this very morning.
So essentially the music video for Drugs by Ratatat.
And it’s braindead and I’m not sure you need to be in the military to realize dudes are dying in the military, but not for the military. My thought process eventually became don’t want to kill, don’t want to die, but would do either for my guys, my squad, platoon, company. Maybe even Fox company but fuck those guys.
Yes, of all the books of that ilk, Reacher just never resonated with me, and I feel like you may have helped me come to realize why. Jack Ryan (amongst others in Clancy books), Mitch Rapp, they all kind of gave a background on how the character got there, and even took time to show them training in some fashion. Jack Reacher just did.
They’re all smut for men though. And that’s okay.
I generally agree with you, but half a mil is peanuts and those aren’t the people I think we should be eating. I think something in the 5-10m range is where we should be taking 90% of it or something. But yeah, you need to pay leaders enough for the job to be worth doing, because the goodness of one’s heart doesn’t provide unfortunately.
This is the issue. Roku is good for kids, wife, and me, three vastly different skill levels. My garage? It’s just my PC hooked up to a receiver that can go to a projector or a TV. I need something a little more user friendly inside. A buddy has the Nvidia Shield that I think is solid, but the Roku I have at home has a fantastic UI, or at least one were familiar with, which I think is key.
This is the whole thing Trump’s Mass Undoing has proven, our legislature is spineless and refuses to perform their jobs. Make laws. Make amendments to the Constitution.
Yeah, I wouldn’t get my kid something I am not personally well versed in. My parents learned that the hard way by failing to stay ahead of me in knowing how to use Windows, back when we had 98, and 2000, and Vista, etc. I’m grounded, you’re locking the computer? Safe mode with networking it is, I’ll print my pornographic images after they download in 10 minutes.
My mom just laughs anytime my kids misbehave. I guess I have it coming.
And go back even further, exposure to lead fumes from leaded gas in cars made an entire generation incapable of complex logical thought.
