There would need to be a legal complaint for a regulatory body correct? A legal complaint was never made.

His words about the Gail Slater nomination specifically were.
Great pick by @realDonaldTrump. 10 years ago, Republicans were the party of big business and Dems stood for the little guys, but today the tables have completely turned. People forget that the current antitrust actions against Big Tech were started under the first Trump admin.
I disagree with Yen here, but characterizing that statement as “republicans are the right choice for their policies and democrats are not,” seems like a real stretch.

DolphinMath@slrpnk.netto Technology@lemmy.world•Perplexity, not Google, is now the best search engineEnglish7·7 months agoWhen the citations are on point, I like AI search. 9 times out of 10 I care enough to read the source though.
However, there are still way too many hallucinations when it comes to sources in my experience. It just wastes my time when I go to verify and find that AI just spat out garbage.
DolphinMath@slrpnk.netto Technology@lemmy.world•Perplexity, not Google, is now the best search engineEnglish3·7 months agoAnyone have an opinion on Perplexity compared to Brave Search?
I really value Brave having their own independent search index. Google, Bing, and Yandex have dominated the space for quite some time.
I know Perplexity claims to have a small / curated independent index, but I’m not really sure how true that is.

DolphinMath@slrpnk.netto Music@beehaw.org•Linkin Park fans re-share Cedric Bixler-Zavala's message to Emily Armstrong over alleged links to Scientology and Danny MastersonEnglish4·10 months agoSo basically it’s not something she’s ever said, but you’re assuming that she holds the exact beliefs of Scientology. This in spite of the fact she was reportedly raised by a Scientologist, yet is openly gay in contradiction to their teachings. Not to mention her songwriting for Dead Sara, which would indicate other beliefs.
For all we know she left years ago and doesn’t ascribe to any of it. It’s extremely hard to know, and personally I’d like to have some real proof before launching a “righteous” crusade against her.
DolphinMath@slrpnk.netto Music@beehaw.org•Linkin Park fans re-share Cedric Bixler-Zavala's message to Emily Armstrong over alleged links to Scientology and Danny MastersonEnglish3·10 months agoHonestly give it a minute for the emotions of it all to settle down. Best I can tell this is an out of control internet rage machine, with very little factual information to back up the claims so far. She’s a world class vocalist who’s a relative unknown for most people, and all we’re currently getting is wild and unproven accusations based on hearsay.
DolphinMath@slrpnk.netto Music@beehaw.org•Linkin Park fans re-share Cedric Bixler-Zavala's message to Emily Armstrong over alleged links to Scientology and Danny MastersonEnglish3·10 months agoCan you point to where she said that she doesn’t “believe in” mental illness?
Most of the accusations being thrown around are tenuous and unproven as far as I can tell. I’m tired of the hate-train circle jerk. People need to back up their statements with facts and evidence, not hearsay.
I’ve been loosely following Emily Armstrong and Dead Sara for a decade or more, and I was so stoked to see join Linkin Park. I swear people just want to be mad these days. If she did shitty things that sucks, but this purity test nonsense has got to stop. Receipts or STFU.

I have a dual-hose portable AC, because my landlord sucks and won’t install something sensible like a mini-split. My biggest complaint is that the only mode that sucks in outside air relies running the inefficient and expensive AC. I’m in SoCal, so no cheap electricity for me. If I had the option I’d 100% rather install solar, but as a renter that is definitely not an option.
That said if I was purchasing one, I’d buy the one recommended by TheWirecutter. It uses a dual hose-in-hose design and is more power efficient than most models.
A version of that is on sale in the US from Sam’s Club for $375.
DolphinMath@slrpnk.netto Technology@lemmy.world•Linus Tech Tips (LTT) release investigation results on former accusationsEnglish42·1 year agoIf you’re referring to APrime, he did release an updated statement on Twitter/X.
Last year, I made the decision to leave LMG influenced by a series of negative emotions that clouded my judgement. So over the past few months, I’ve taken the time to apologize privately to Linus, Yvonne, and others on the team because my actions and words were unfair to them.
Throughout my five years of employment there, they’ve shown nothing but kindness and forgiveness. We’ve had our differences, but none of them justified the comments I made or the disturbances I caused after my departure.
My decision to leave was unfortunately precipitated by a challenging period in my personal life, which I felt was affecting my work. The “drama” unfolded while I was on vacation, a time when I was hoping to recharge. Instead, I returned feeling more frustrated & immediately quit.
Since then, I’ve continued with therapy, which I had started in the Spring under the company health plan, and this eventually led to a diagnosis of certain mental health conditions. I’m grateful for the support I received, as it helped me understand and address these issues.
I genuinely miss the people at LMG (though the feeling may not be mutual) & feel my motives for leaving were misguided.
However, I’ve been fortunate to work with some incredibly talented and wonderful people since, & I’m excited about the prospect having more in the future. :)
Brave Search has !bangs and an independant search index. Kagi relies heavily on it.
