Not exactly what you’re asking, as I was on reddit for many years. Never touched twitter tho, but nonetheless I’ve been really enjoying Mastodon

Same, but without the finesse and the home ownership and such
Yeah it was a trip for me as well to adapt to the new ways. For example it took me a long long time to adjust to allowing the computer to manage the multitasking for me. I would habitually always close out programs I wasn’t using, because I felt deeply from my decades of experience that running tons of things at once would cause many issues.
I was very uncomfortable letting all these “active” programs pile up, but it really turned out to be all good. The computers are designed to be used this way. And really, I’m better off for it, not having to go in and micromanage everything constantly.
What I’m trying to say is that learning is not something that is ever finished, you know? There came a day when we stopped defragmenting our hard drives, and now the day has arrived where the computer utilizes all the ram all the time
That’s normal for these computers. Idea being it doesn’t really benefit you to have a ton of empty ram sitting around waiting to be used. So the OS makes no effort to clear it out until the space is needed.
If you believe their marketing it’s actually doing the opposite, and preemptively loading stuff into ram in order to make your common tasks feel as snappy as possible. But yeah either way you’ll notice the memory is always “full”, but you never seem run out
There’s this dude at the gym who watches netflix on his phone between sets, taking 10+ minute breaks while people wait in line to use the machine.
I normally try to be charitable about these things. I have no idea if he has some type of fatigue issue or something along those lines justifying the long breaks, right?
But I need to actively push my thoughts in this direction, in some probably misguided attempt to cultivate kindness within my own life. Truth is there’s just something infuriating about watching a movie while sitting in the building’s only leg extension
Google has been rolling out a thing where an AI result is the first thing that pops up, often taking up the whole screen lol. I’ve personally witnessed tons of people google something normally, then just go with whatever the AI says.
Makes me shake my head, but it’s not like they were very discerning with their sources before all this nonsense, either. Hopefully they don’t rely on it for any important medical advice down the road
Baseball cap! Been getting more into them lately after never really wearing hats. I started because a friend said they’re useful for hiking, but after getting compliments I started just wearing them in general as well.
It’s a reference to how relentless phone scammers can be. The joke being that they would go to extreme lengths to reach you. Other similar memes might feature a message in a bottle reaching you while you are stranded on a deserted island, or a brick with the same message thrown through your window at night
Macs are like uncannily good at real-time audio processing, also audio and MIDI routing in general has less friction. Less tinkering in general when connecting external synths
Like with anything you can find tons of people online who have no issues with their windows based production setup, YMMV. But macs are ubiquitous in the music space, from my experience I think it’s deserved
Is that CRT-berus in the back?
What did you do on the platform out of curiosity? I felt similarly when I left other social medias.
Discord I mainly use to keep an eye on early access games and dev updates, and occasionally ask or answer questions. Although I did get into it after deleting other social media so I may be subconsciously avoiding the more toxic parts of the experience
Yeah this same conversation happens every time one of these headlines comes up and gets misinterpreted. The conclusion is usually that apple has longer than average hardware support across the board
Absolute tragedy tbh, discord won’t be around forever. I weep for all the game knowledge that will be lost
Omg that’s so messed up but so incredible haha, was he okay after?
Being able to see properly is also something they’ll never be able to do again, so, I hope that one second was “spiritual” enough for them lol
I used to see people charitably, much like you do, until very recently. After witnessing for myself people staring into the sun and injuring themselves after being repeatedly warned, I now realize there are a substantial number of people who simply have rocks clattering around inside their skulls instead of brains
Well…if you have to ask…
I don’t understand how anyone with rent or a mortgage can afford to live anymore.
You ever see that art installation of the robot which is leaking oil, but continuously tries to squeegee the oil back in until it eventually shuts down?
Me when the family starts talking politics during holiday supper
It matters somewhat, in that you may be able to sync things between mobile and desktop if you use the ios version of your desktop browser
