He literally said in an interview that if Harris won, “I’m fucked.” Now that he’s aligned with the most hated administration in history, he’s holing up and keeping quiet. He got what he needed, and I’m assuming that now he’s hoping we’ll all forget and he’ll cozy up to the Democrats if they ever regain power.

I did know that. But I think you give him more credit of self-awareness than he has. Elon Musk is a vacuous ego with a lot of money. I don’t believe he has the depth of mind to actually hold any political ideology, for good or ill. I think he is singularly focused on being the Best Boy, and will ape anything that helps him feel that way.

A lot of people talking about their own feelings on the subject, but my opinion is that humans are the result of their upbringing. Your parents, your friends, the media you consume, the schools you go to, the strangers you interact with, the religion you are told defines you, all impact your understanding of the world and how you interact with other people. What makes someone monogamous vs someone who isn’t? It could be any and all of those things. Hell, it could be an article in a magazine that someone read when they were 12 years old. We are the results of our influences, and even more than that.

If you’re trying to fix things, tell your spouse that you appreciate the sentiment (assuming you even do) and talk it out. My guess is that you instead got disputatious and made it clear that you actually didn’t appreciate the effort, that what you have already is More Than Good Enough, Thank You, which put your spouse on their heels and hurt their feelings.

Of course this is just a guess on my part, but that’s the vibe I got. As another said, you definitely sound like you’re on the spectrum and need to keep that in mind when dealing with other people. You may not see the world in the same way as they do.

I’ve been the electronic security game for about 25 years and I swear I instinctively notice and look directly at every video camera in every building I enter, and I swear if anybody noticed they’d think I’m casing the joint.
