I often find that it is better to open new Excel files with LibreOffice, instead of older Excel versions. E.g. the XLOOKUP-Function, which I use a lot, is implemented in LibreOffice, but not in the older Excel on my work PC.

For me it is Darktable. After getting used to the workflow and a lot of quirks, it feels more powerfull than Lightroom. In Lightroom you push sliders, in Darktable you really get to know how things work.
But again, you need a lot of patience, time and YT-Tutorials (e.g. Boris Hajdukovic)

Unreliable search, can’t handle one online and one local postbox side by side (both have to be turned to online postbox), it messes up my contacts every chance it gets, rules don’t work on the online postboxes,… And everything is so slow!
I am so happy with my Linux setup, but for this one costumer I have to use this shitty piece of software.

Worked well for me. Although all the people I care about had already Signal, Element or Threema installed, so I am not a great pull factor.
And those everyday moms from child care or from wherever can reach me via SMS, for the two messages/year.
Nice try mom, but I am adulting now.

With this kind of budget there has to be a better way to organize data and permissions. They have infinite money and a lot of smart people at their company… And I am starring at poor quality icons and the most confusing structure I can think of.

As a german it is beyond me how this software got so popular. But businesses love those user nightmares. I recently had to work with Teamcenter from Siemens - nope nope nope nope.

Don’t kid yourself, if you would speak English over there, how come I barely understood this Australian who told me he’s been “leggin’ it barefoot since he stacked it near the servo and now he’s flat out like a lizard drinkin’ and tryin’ to find a dunny before he cops a fair dinkum blue”.

I guess you only use the standard Nextcloud photo app, not Memories. It is very comparable to the features you describe + if you have already set up your Nextcloud, there is no need to work with yet another software on your server.

Memories also uses automatic tagging, so searching for tent and beach would probably get you the same result. But I guess they are not using the best recognition software, I get a few missinterpretations here and there. (My marzipan potatoe with googly eyes is not an ‘Instrument’. But I guess it’s a challange for any software)

No special process, I installed Memories as admin on my Nextcloud, pointed it to my Picture-folder and my Smartphone-Uploadfolder, and made sure I had the other Apps as recommended here installed (e.g. ‘Photos’ to use albums and ‘Recognize’ for automatic face tagging)
The Memories-App on the Smartphone is also neat. And it is available on F-Droid.

My picture folder contains 1,4 TB of data, with many RAW-files and some Videos. Memories is handling that without a problem. I especially like the way it handles RAW-files, by grouping them together with the fitting JPEG.
I don’t know about how ressource heavy it is, but my server is really nothing special.
Features I like and use:

If you already use Nextcloud, try the Memorie-Extension. It has all the features of Immich. The tagging-feature for faces has been there for at least the year I am using it now.

I bought a few T-Shirts, they are fine. And one sweater, which I really like.
BUT: as soon as you buy something from them, they will bomb you with ‘please review us on trust pilot’, until you do. Very annoying, I will not buy there again to avoid that.

I love the additional freedom too.
For me there weren’t even problems with nasty banking apps, all apps from three german banks are working normal.

For all people reading this: there are zero privacy-based limitations with GrapheneOS.

I agree with you, had to read it twice to make sure they don’t mean to remove speed limits.
After a quick search I found a different article from BBC about a speed limit that is dropped from 30 mph to 20 mph. TIL.

GNU Taler and the digital Euro are not the same and are not related. But GNU Taler is a great project in itself.
