  • The trajectory we’re headed we’re going to need it or something like it.

With improvements to AI and physical automation there will be a metric fuckton of people out of employment completely and there are only so many jobs for the rebuttal of “the people will still need to maintain the robots and check the AI”

Unfortunately with our concept of ownership there will be massive resistance to it as “I own the machines that make the products/increase productivity, why should you get anything from my profit?” They’re going to have to relearn the lesson Ford learned about “well paid employees are your customers” the hard way.

As it stands, at least in America, “The Century Of The Self” has lead to a complete atomization of society, every business is entirely independent from society, every individual is separate from society, so each individual owner won’t see the need for a well paid workforce/population at the owners “expense” actually being beneficial to their own existence. They’ll think “someone else” should deal with that issue, or worse “pull yourself up from your bootstraps” :/

  • loving parents that supported me in all ways when needed.

This is the component that I was missing. I have the white male privilege, but I’ve always had split parents and 2 stepfathers that were always dicks. I had to move out at 18. My friend had the exact opposite situation where he could stay at home as long as he needed to and he spent his time studying towards a computer science degree. I always had to worry about moving and paying rent so I never pursued anything “difficult” or time consuming as I never knew when I’d have to move again so I’m now just a worthless, single, factory worker schmuck living in someone’s garage and my friend is happily married working from home making major money from a well known major corporation.

We couldn’t possibly have more different outcomes unless our skin color were also different.

  • It’s not something you actively use, it is just “there.”

For example: I applied to a job as a refrigeration technician and during the interview the guy actually fucking said “it’s really hard to get clean cut white guys to apply. I don’t want some Dominican (literally referring to their Dominican maintenance guy) walking into a store with our logos on.”

I had finished a tech school with some other black guys that I know also applied, I got the job and they didn’t. :/

  • I don’t think we’re headed towards that society. This was one incident. We’ve lived with the billionaire boot on our necks for decades and decades, I think people have become complacent if anything and the vast majority of us go to tictok or places like Lemmy to vent and then never actually do anything about it. We vote, the billionaire class candidate wins, and nothing ever changes. We sigh, vent, and go back to work.

I wouldn’t take this one incident to mean anything larger.

  • Billionaires: yeahhh I’m just going to buy all the media, all the politicians, and make sure enough of my guys win that they stop any legislation that would cost me anything. Nothing could ever go wrong with effectively taking away people’s choices right?

I’m thinking all we have left is roit. We’ve already lost the democratic process through propaganda outlets and bought and paid for candidates a while ago. There is no party for the working class. There is a party that likes to talk big, but when push comes to shove they don’t do shit and have their chosen “enemy of the term” to pop up and take the fall to stop anything from passing.

  • It’s not so much the money, the wealth in itself, that bothers me about them, it’s the mind boggling absolutely insane amount of power having that much wealth is capable of.

They literally buy elections, they buy media outlets, by their actions they buy the direction entire countries take. They use their money to fund the actions of others that work on their behalf. They can create a literal army of individuals to work for them towards whatever end they wish to achieve. That’s entirely way too much power for an individual or a family to have. Just imagine living next to someone who has a 500,000 strong army of militants just hanging out. Maybe theyre good, maybe they want to turn your neighborhood into a warzone for kicks, either way you would have no means to stop them.

Just look at smoething like the “tea party” movement in the US. Grassroots? No, try Koch brothers funded with the intent to install Koch approved representatives into the government.

  • A spoiled rich kid. I want to have a life I’ll never know in this one, a life without real worry and to actually own a home. A life of stability and unlimited possibilities with all the time in the world to train for whatever I would want to do/become.

This life, living in someone else’s garage while still spending 1/2 of my income on rent and no hope for future advancement and knowing that the only financial stability possible would require marriage/a second income, and that it just isn’t in the cards is not a fun life.

  • From what I understand the people individually would be responsible for helping each other which is why there’s a strong emphasis on an “armed proletariat.” An example, I believe from State and Revolution, was that of a common person helping someone who was being mugged. We’d all have a responsibility to help each other.

Not entirely sure on their concept of military protection though. Except for lenin they didn’t really live in an age of crazy military capabilities so it was always man vs man not man vs b52 bombers.

Most people just see Fascism as Hitler and killing people. They don’t recognize subservience to and complete blind support of corporate/wealth interests as a flavor of Fascism. It’s why I’ve grown to appreciate the term “friendly fascist.”

“Yeah I’ll support your LGBTQ+ cause if all it costs are nice cheap words, BUT DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE TOUCH MY CORPORATE MONEY MACHINE!
