Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Only 3 months away, what do you think 2027 will bring us?
6·8 days agoah but you must be aware that the awakening of mana in humans will lead to wild animals awakening mana too. this in turn will cause most of the land on our planet to be overrun with beasts, while empowered birds and fish will make travel by boat/plane nearly impossible
I’ve been using matrix with a few people, and I like it conceptually. However, it’s definitely got some very rough edges. Mobile clients don’t seem to even support calling, and as I found out recently some homeservers just don’t support calling? custom emote/sticker support is client dependent and somewhat janky on all of them (no favoriting emotes, fluffychat not showing custom emotes with other emojis, etc.). I want it to be great but I just don’t see it being user friendly enough for mass adoption right now.
On the other hand, I’ve also been trying Fluxer. It’s a lot smoother of an experience, (aside from screen share), and I really see it as a great drop in replacement for discord with friend groups. But, it’s not got federation yet, and I don’t believe E2EE for DMs or voice calls is here yet either. I hope it can keep developing and deliver on these promises.
woah is this like a series I’ve missed the beginning of?

1·1 month agoyes but as I said elsewhere in the comments here, last I tried it the emoji picker didn’t show custom emotes. To use them you had to specifically type out the emote name in colons 😔

2·1 month agothis does seem like a pretty nice mobile client. thanks for sharing!
though unfortunately there’s no iOS version, so my partner can’t use it

1·1 month agoSure Matrix supports custom emotes, but clients’ support for them is still spotty. Element X didn’t even show them at all when I tried, and fluffy chat would let you see them but had no emote picker. you just had to type the name into chat between colons
I don’t know what you’re trying to imply, but yes custom emote support is that important for me and my friends

41·1 month agoMatrix is cool but the lackluster custom emote support on mobile clients is kind of a deal breaker for me

8·1 month agoIf they had a super cheap $1 tier just for being able to use custom emotes anywhere, I’d honestly love that. Though I feel like the $5/month for Plutonium is a lot better than $10/month that discord nitro goes for

6·1 month agoI’ve been trying Fluxer recently and it’s been really great. though not as nice as Stoat with emotes, they still give 500 emote slots and 500 sticker slots for servers on the main instance. The mobile app that recently came out are a bit rough around the edges, but works well enough to replace discord for me (if only I could get all my friends on it…)

8·1 month agoyep! you can even turn on a notification sound for messages in the current channel while the window is focused
I’ve been using this one for a while too! I really quite like it. It keeps all the clutter off my wallpaper, but I’m still able to access everything just by swiping in a direction

4·1 month agowho wouldn’t love fixing their computo? 😔
though it is another Firefox fork, I’ve recently switched over to zen browser and absolutely love it. I’d recommend others that don’t want to use chromium but are put off by Mozilla’s BS to take a look

I tried watching it after hearing about it here a few times… I was shocked at how it’s basically just a comedy for rich white conservatives. If anything its message is supportive of fascism; the whole premise is that poor people are stupid and rich people are smart, and humanity 500 years in the future has gotten stupider because the rich people failed to control the poors and got “great replaced” by stupid poor people…
why anyone on Lemmy thinks it’s good is beyond me
