Give it a couple weeks and maybe by then I’ll hopefully have upgraded from win10 on my desktop to either Spiral or Netrunner. Only thing holding me back from upgrading on my desktop right now is how much stuff I have to save to my new external drive and how it feels like a Herculean task.
bringing “in-air” gestures to airpods
I can’t wait for stories of people brushing their hair away and the earbuds take that as a sign to raise the volume too high or something equally dumb to happen because they won’t be able to differentiate between a normal gesture meant for it and something not meant for it.
Gesture controls are cool, but what happens if they are too sensitive to movement or think gesture xyz is the same as gesture zyx?
That, or depending on how mistreated they were in North Korea, the soldiers surrender immediately because I’d have to assume Ukrainian prisons/jails/whatever are nowhere near as bad as just living in North Korea.
The way I see AI being implemented into Firefox, regardless of whether it’s gonna be opt-in or out in the future is that they need to keep up with the latest browser trends in the future. If they don’t, they will definitely lose more of whatever probably small amount of remaining normies who don’t use edge or chrome but instead opt for Firefox. They’re not tech literate enough to see a conveniently placed ad telling them that xyz browser now uses AI security features and Firefox doesn’t and discern the fact that it’s a ploy to get them to switch. We need more normies if we really want a chance to keep Firefox more than just treadingn water, and the best way is to offer more random bullshit of the week to keep them from switching to a competitor.
Well, here’s the part where I hope people are able to make a Wikipedia alternative so we can turn Wikipedia into a cesspool to ensure the enshitification of gøøg|e. That, and if I ever get a Wikipedia article made about me (which will probably never happen), I’m signing up with an account and absolutely trashing it to say things that will cause whatever any AI looking at it to spout the most absurd shit.
If anything, I believe they wanna go back to long before the 60s. Back to the 1700s, in terms of owning slaves (including women), being able to shoot anyone who they disagree with, and getting away with killing anyone who isn’t white, claim they killed themselves, and have nobody question it.
I’m all for peaceful environmental protesting, but destruction of property and historic monuments/items only makes your movement look worse. News will spin it as the protesters being vandals and go about their day. Most people won’t think beyond that and will probably associate environmental activism with negative things such as vandalism or whatever else their favorite news calls what they’re doing.
Time to shoot the newbie. First used Ubuntu 20.04 in 2022. It was a necessity at the time on that shitty laptop and I had never used Linux before. Wouldn’t go back to using that distro or laptop ever again since I have upgraded.
I’m calling it now:
In other news Adobe forced to pay 0.001% if what they earn every day from subscriptions and still find loopholes allowing them to continue business as usual, with the US government sticking their thumbs up their ass because they can’t make an example of Adobe too soon or the bribes… I mean donations from lobbyists representing large companies will dry up.
I swear, modern Republicans are dumber than ever.
Government: A new disease is sweeping the nation! Side effects include instant death! Whatever you do, don’t lick any lightbulbs!
Famous Republican/Right-wing Influencer: THE GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO STOP US FROM LICKING LIGHTBULBS!!! GO OUT AND LICK ALL THE LIGHTBULBS TO OWN THE LIBS!!!
That’s what it feels like to me.
The majority of of people using it will most definitely take it lying down as they’re most likely not tech savvy enough to install a browser extension on a laptop if the only thing on the page was a large red install button.
I like to think the large corporations, specifically the social media giants, purposefully did everything in their power to water down the term through algorithm manipulation to ensure cancel culture or anything like it is ridiculed to the point that everyone becomes apathetic about it since it now applies to anyone/thing you don’t like.
Biggest problems I have had with Mastodon are the fact that:
The app I wanted to use didn’t even recognize the instance I signed up for and…
I had to wait nearly a month and a half before being able to actuallyuse my account and access Mastodon because I joined an instance where they review people signing up or something similar.
I definitely see the appeal of a find the site, sign up, and you’re done services over the fediverse join an instance and pray service.
Didn’t know that was the name of it, at least in the context of US history. Too bad a certain mustachioed dictator ruined both that and this symbol: 卍
Next thing you know they’re gonna start raising their right (left?) arms at a roughly 45° angle upwards, fingers pointing to the sky, palms towards the ground. They’ll silently watch the fire as they think in their tiny chimp brains that Nazis are true Americans and everyone else is an illegal alien who needs to be gassed.
If you don’t mind having to occasionally refresh the page due to search engine timeout, a public Searxng metasearch engine. I use one just to straight up bypass having to go to any specific search engine. Also allows me to see results from both gøøg|e and b*ng without having to go to either.
Especially if they wanna be a god fantasy writer when they grow up.
Imagine living in a country where you have the freedom to choose whether or not you are religious or want anything to do with it and some dumb, probably peodphilic, politicians from the south can’t handle the fact that people are making a choice not to believe that an all power man in the sky controls everything. Could be me.
It may not be super active, but Insanejournal is still a thing.
