FINAL UPDATE: I have joined PieFed under the same username I used on Lemmy. Just commented on this post
UPDATE: I checked my mail and there were six verification emails. I clicked the latest one and it seems to have worked. So the email is working, but delayed somewhat.
EDIT: Some details
- The instance I’m trying to join is piefed.social
- The website is the same (https://piefed.social/auth)
- I am using a permanent email (not throwaway)
- I am not using a VPN
I tried to create an account, but my confirmation email isn’t coming through no matter how much I click “resend” (and it shows “email sent” but it never seems to reach my mailbox). I checked the spam filter, mobile app, everything.
Is the instance verification down or something?

Piefed itself is just software. Anyone can spin up this software to run their own version of piefed. You are on the developer’s instance, the flagship instance known as “piefed.social”. So am I. You can see that in your url. The idea is that different instances of piefed can network together. So you can talk to people who made accounts on other servers with a different admin team.
The idea is that there is no single owner, so no individual point of failure or corruption.
Here are some other piefed instances here on the instance chooser.
That part kinda concerns me. Do yall allow weird far right stuff?
I don’t know what that means. I just want to see good food and kittens, like I used to do on reddit, before they ruined their site.
If you had to explain this site to a very stupid person (me in this case), what is even happening? How do I turn this into an /r/all feed that I can scroll to my heart’s content?
Sorry to bother you, but I do like this site, and I’d like to use it more, but it confuses me a lot.
No. Mostly those types of places get defederated and left to rot on their own.
As in your url bar. The page you’re on now is “piefed.social”, right?
You can see the entire Threadiverse by clicking here and clicking the “All” tab which includes everything from all other connected instances.
