A majority of Spaniards believe that US President Donald Trump did not act correctly when he intervened militarily in Venezuela and kidnapped President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores on January 3 , according to a survey by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) .
According to the study, 50.3% of Spaniards say that Trump acted incorrectly, while 61.5% believe that this action endangered world peace .
The poll, conducted between January 5 and 10 , also reveals that seven out of ten Spaniards believe that with these illegal arrests, the United States violated the Charter of the United Nations and international law , reinforcing the perception that it was an attack against a sovereign state.
The report also indicates that 62.9% of the Spanish population stays informed about the situation in Venezuela.
Regarding emotional reactions, 48% of respondents expressed concern after learning of the US intervention; 21.3% said they felt joy , 17.2% fear , 17.1% confusion , while 7.2% claimed to have been indifferent .
