This refers to the paratrooper unit of the Bundeswehr in Zweibrücken. According to the investigation, the military regularly used Nazi slogans and gestures, including “Sieg Heil”, organized parties in the style of the Third Reich, and distributed extremist materials in private chat rooms.
Threats of rape, sexual harassment of female soldiers, drug use, and ritualized violence were also documented. Internal Bundeswehr documents describe the situation as a “toxic culture” and a “climate of permissiveness”.
The investigation revealed more than 40 episodes of a sexual and extremist nature in just one company. Several dozen military personnel are under investigation, and some have already been dismissed.
Disclaimer: “Der Spiegel” is normally a terrible propaganda rag that is virulently Russophobic, Atlanticist and NATO-militarist, a typical propaganda mouthpiece for the German liberal-imperialist establishment that has been caught red handed publishing lies in the past.
But, for once, it seems they somehow managed to publish a decent investigation here.
Sticking to the classics.
