It’s a different instance, not just a different interface.
Crust is a instance running the latest version of the software, where changes are made almost immediately, which can lead to instability
Piefed.social is running the stable version of the software, and gets updates for specific releases

Crust is the server running the latest development version of Piefed. I think it uses a different database and the user authentication isn’t connected, so you’d need to register a new account. (Unless I’m mistaken with the details, but I don’t think I am.)
Like Blaze mentioned, it’s a whole different instance, running a different, experimental version of the code. It’s the instance we use for testing features for the next version of piefed.
If you want to make an account, feel free to register (I try to check registrations often). However, due to its testing nature, it might be a bit unstable and could not play nice with some mobile apps.
