Always wanted one. This is the entry level baby keyboard – Native Instruments makes much fancier ones. But it came with a bunch of software instruments, and an Ableton Live Lite license, so… Hard to beat the price ($360CAD).
Going through Melodics – I last took a piano lesson over 30 years ago and the fingers are a bit slow. As you can see by the graph, it’s taking a while to get through some lessons with 100% :)
Naw that’s definitely not a baby keyboard it’s actually really good (I own it too). Also upgraded to the Arturia Keylab 88 because I wanted a full size keyboard and now they’re both gathering dust haha.
Definitely don’t regret those purchases tho.
I had contemplated the NI S88 – a local shop had an open box on discount. But I decided to go entry level to become more familiar with the tool chain first. I might follow in your footsteps and buy a nice one later.
I unfortunately had a lot of space issues with the big one so while having access to all keys is definitely nice I wouldn’t say that more keys = better anymore.
I love Ableton so much. I guess it’s what we DAW clicks with your brain, but once I got past the learning curve it feels really natural.
Many years ago, in the MS-DOS era, I did composition in Impulse Tracker…
I’m having to reorient my brain for Ableton, an ongoing process
Hey now, I’d definitely not call that an entry level baby keyboard! I definitely was working with something much worse as my first
The NI ones are a great choice, even better that you get some of their VSTs and Ableton lite with it
Enjoy!
Yeah, got Komplete Kontrol Select with a few instruments. Having a lot of fun with Massive X :)
