A hacker named [zindustries87] has converted an old pager into a Meshtastic node. The pager, a Motorola T900, was chosen for its small form factor and the availability of many units. The conversion required reverse-engineering the screen and keyboard, as there was no documentation available for the chips used. A Heltec V4 with an ESP32-S3 was used to replace the original hardware. The resulting device can send and receive messages on the Meshtastic network. While this is a prototype, [zindustries87] plans to add more features and possibly create a drop-in PCB replacement for other pagers. This is a more useful way to revive pagers than bootstrapping an entire pager network. https://hackaday.com/2026/10/14/pager-converted-to-meshtastic-node/
