That’s the question basically.
I cannot post or comment. The community main page has neither the “Join” nor the yellow “Leave” button. Yet it still shows up in my profile page sidebar (and possibly also in my feed).
How can I actively leave the community resp. remove it from there?

Oh — YPTB is “Ye Power Trippin’ Bastards”. It’s a comm where people go to bitch about being banned. They have to bring receipts and people weigh in like they do in “Am I the Asshole” comms, e.g. “YDI” (you deserved it)/“PTB” ((the admin is/was a) power-trippin’ bastard) or something like “NTA” (not the asshole).
Usually the mod/admin gets called out, either by the OP or by someone else. Usually they ignore the summons and/or ban others who criticise them in the thread. It’s usually a shit show. You go there and bring popcorn.
As for the differences between Lemmy and Piefed, I’m really not sure.
I’m actually finding out right now.
I.e. a screenshot (e.g. of the modlog) that is supposed to prove some other, unproven claim (the “power tripping”).
No, I get it, there are cases where this makes sense, just not the one I’m dealing with atm.
Yeah, I generally don’t recommend YPTB… I figure, either the person deserved it, or the mod/admin did them a favour (being the toxic one).
I’ve been banned from communities and I’ve blocked communities. Users curate their feed and mods/admins curate their users. It’s not personal to me. Plus, it’s not like you can’t just make another account. (I don’t recommend trying to dodge bans, but like if there was content you just wanted to see, as long as you don’t interact, I think it’s fine.)
It’s getting away from your actual issue and I wasn’t trying to derail. That said, maybe you can try communicating with them and asking if they’ll unban you for a day so you can get it off your sidebar. Worst case scenario is they say no and you’re back where you started.
This is not what this post is about, not my other either.
I’m just asking about an inconsistency in the UX/UI. It feels wrong to technically still be subscribed to such a comm, and get visual reminders of that.
And for the other, I just want accountability.
