Papamousse@beehaw.orgto Memes@lemmy.ml•I hate these new lights on cars so so much, instant flash bangs.
11·9 months agoIn Canada we have mandatory DRL (Daytime Running Lights) and often, cars use high beam with a low voltage or PWM. When people replace their standard bulbs with LED bulb, it means during the day you are flashed by high beam in your eyes, even in full summer at noon you can be completely blinded by cars coming towards you, it’s fucking annoying!
Exactly the same in Canada, the black metal bar stool, light, fixture, black brick, wood, etc. It is a starter pack for burger restaurant.
you shout in COBOL ;-)
I learnt COBOL (I’m old) it’s a very easy language, you basically talk, for instance to do c=a*b you write:
MULTIPLY A TO B GIVING C
and everything is tabbed, but in a good editor like emacs, it’s done automatically pretty well.
Papamousse@beehaw.orgto Music@beehaw.org•It's not just JLo: Why big musical acts can't sell out concerts anymore
38·2 years agoWe can’t go anymore, first, tickets are expensive, like starting at $200-300 in Canada. Then the minute they go on sale, they are all sold to scalpers who resell them $2000 on kijiji. Madonna tickets reached $6000.
So I stopped caring about live concerts.
Papamousse@beehaw.orgto Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•KB, MB, GB, and TB are all part of the metric system. What empirical measurements should we Free™️ Americans use for computer memory?
182·2 years agoAbsolutely, I started computers in 1981, for me 1K is 1024 bytes and will always be. 1000 bytes is a scam
Papamousse@beehaw.orgto Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•`zsh`, `ksh`, `bash`, and obviously `sh`
7·2 years agotcsh also! I used it a lot uhhhh last century
Haha yes, no problem with those 😁
2038 will certainly be a shit show
I worked in broadcasting (programming broadcasting applications), everything is done with PTP (Precise Time Protocol) and TC (timecode) in video. We had to support leap second, it’s not as easy, but in the end, insert black frames for 1s and that’s it.
Papamousse@beehaw.orgto Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•PING 127.0.0.1 I know it is around here somewhere...
1·2 years agoYeah incredible, this is like a 20yo quote!

My solution is to never posts/comments on reddit, after 15 years there, I stopped 2 years ago.
