Man, that pendulum swing from “the uncarrier” to full blown horrible large corporation. That merger with Sprint sure has made things better for customers, right?

2·11 months agoAh, I see what you’re saying, I misunderstood and thought you were taking about picking a different book. Indeed, for the worst case scenario a mediocre AI voice could be an improvement!

3·11 months agoYou seem to be implying that’s ridiculous, but it is indeed exactly like that, though it’s not like I’m expecting every performance to be a masterpiece.
It’s also pretty subjective, for example folks either seem to love or hate R. C. Bray. My mother can’t stand the guy’s style, I think he’s okay.

17·11 months agoFor now at least I bet this’ll be pretty mediocre. I’m a big audiobook fan and voice actors have a massive impact on the quality of the finished product. A great voice actor can make a mediocre book fun and engaging, a bad one can make a great book unlistenable. The best do great voice differentiation. As an example I’ve really enjoyed Andrea Parsneau’s work in The Wandering Inn series.

Cyberpunk@lemmy.zip•I enjoyed both games but they definitely have different aesthetics
4·11 months agoI finished it, but the whole random npc to protagonist pipeline left it feeling too generic, especially when the first two games had strong central characters. Not likely a game I’ll bother replaying.

4·1 year agoIt’s cool though because it was done by AI and therefore isn’t political or punitive.
For real though it’s gonna be great when AI hallucinations start hitting regulations and legislation and we end up with bizarre and nonsensical things in the text that no one bothered to fully read (cause we fired the people that’d actually do that).
Serious answer to a facetious reply: I’d imagine there has to be some level of software involved if it’s pulsing, even if it’s rudimentary or low level. I also wonder what it does in terms of the bodies demands such as during physically intense activities. I’d guess that it doesn’t which, along with the 4 hour battery life, probably answers why it’s a stop gap and not an alternative at this point. Still awesome though.
Fascinating, and awesome for people in need, but a whole new level of battery anxiety.
